Good-bye from "Rolly"

Written by Sandy Dunn just after her Wire Rolly passed away.
With one short and final sigh,
the time has come to say good-bye.
Please wipe the teardrops from your eye.
Remember me, the jobs I'd do,
          around the house assisting you.
Our nightly wrestle and "zip, zip, zoo!"
The pillows I would push and squish,
the food I'd nudge into my dish,
curled on your lap, this was my wish.
The chairs that I would perch upon,
the path I wore into the lawn,
At foot of bed until the dawn.
The deer that I would scare at night,
and in my dreams would bark and bite.
How always I was in your sight.
A couch where I could wipe my face,
it was, I think, my favorite place.
And down the stair, I'd win the race.
Atop the toys I'd blend and hide,
and in the car I'd often ride.
I always knew your hurried stride.
Good luck, God speed, hold fast my lead.
I see that squirrel, I've got him treed!
