Fox Terrier Network

Club Committees

FTN has several standing committees that help do the club's work. There all also "sunset" committees that are set up for a limited lenght of time to do specific work and research. These are often used when setting up new sections of the website.

The standing committees are:

Each committee has several members. If you are interested in one of these subjects please contact the committee chair for more information.

Newsletter Committee

This committee handles the everyday work of putting together our great bi-monthly newsletter. Many articles and columns are included each issue, with news from around the world. We have our Dr. Foxdoddle question and answer column (very tongue in cheek) where Dr. F (a fox terrier) answers questions from other fox terriers about living with humans and other animals. We also have serious articles about both breeds and many other topics are covered. The newsletters are now available to the public! For more information, click here.

If you are a FTN member and would like to serve on this committee or submit an article to the committee for consideration please contact Nancy at: newsletter@foxterrier.com

The Newsletter committee is:

    Nancy Wolfing - editor
    Cris Olsen                                        Daniella Slon
    Lindsey Smith                                   Pam Bishop
    Donna Taylor

Education Committee

The Education Committee works on ways to get the word out about the Smooth and Wire Fox Terrier. We are here to help educate the public about what it's like to live with these breeds and what the needs are in a home.

The Eduaction Committee produced the FTN brochure that explains about the club. This is available to anyone that would like to pass them out to those interested in the Smooth or Wire. They are great for booths at dogs shows, pet fairs, etc. They are free, just contact us at info@foxterrier.com and we'll be glad to send you a packet.

The Education Committee also handles putting ads in magazines, etc. These are to direct people to our website for more information on our breeds.

We are always looking for new ideas to help the public understand our fox terriers.

Contact committee chairman Pam at dobrasft@earthlink.net  for more information on this committee.

Rescue Committee

To find out more about Fox Terrier Rescue and a group or individual doing FTRescue near you please go to www.foxterrierrescue.net . There is a listing by state of all the people doing FTRescue. There is also information on how to tell the difference between the related breeds. Each individual or group is an independent fox terrier rescuer. Most work together to help and support each other, but they are separate groups. The Fox Terrier Network is not affiliated in any way with any of these groups, but we do support their work and hope that you will too. We have a Rescue Committee that administrates our Rescue Fund. It is a fund that fox terrier rescue groups can apply to, for help with a rescue fox terrier that has medical needs above their ability to handle. Our Rescue Fund has helped with eye surgeries in a couple of cases where the fox terrier was blind and surgery corrected it. We have paid for certain testing and other procedures also. This Fund is available only for fox terriers in a recognized Fox Terrier Rescue group and not for the general public. We wish we could help more, but our funds are limited. So the Rescue Fund is only for the homeless fox terriers that have no one else to help them. If you would like to learn more about the Rescue Fund or the Rescue Committee, you can contact the Rescue Committee chairman, Adrianne Buschling at: rescue@foxterrier.com

The Daisy Committee

The Fox Terrier Network has had a Rescue Fund in place for many years that helped many of the rescued dogs, but it was only for dogs that were actually "in rescue" at the time.  There was no help for on going medical problems if the dogs were placed.  The Daisy Committee and Daisy Fund were created because of this need.  the Daisy Committee of five FNT members, goes over every application for help, and sees if it conforms to our guidelines for help.  We can only help on procedures and treatments that are life saving or make a major difference in the quality of life for this dog, not regular maintance costs.
For more information on the Daisy Committee and the Daisy Fund please contact Pam Bishop at: DaisyFund@foxterrier.com

Fund Raising Committee

The Fund Raising committee consists of several members that work to help bring in the funds that are needed to do our work. One of our main fund raisers is our annual Photo Contest (link to that page). Another is our vendors (link to items for sale) We are always looking for vendors that sell fox terrier items as so many of us love to collect. The vendors donate 10% of any sale though our website. Please buy from our fine vendors and be sure to mention FTN.

The committee is looking for new ideas and if you can help please contact Pam Bishop at dobrasft@earthlink.net
